As the seasons come and go each year, we witness a big change in shoe trends too. In the past, we have often seen shoe trends from years ago recycled and updated and presented as the newest shoe trend craze. The same can be said for 2015, although there are some interesting new developments that have recently graced the catwalks that would lead one to believe that 2015 will be an interesting year for shoe lovers!
Read on to discover some women’s shoe trends that are expected to be huge in 2015.
Pointy Toe Ankle Boots
The pointy toe ankle boots began to feature in autumn/winter of 2014, however, 2015 will be the year that this particular style of boot will flourish and take on a life of its own! In the coming year, we will see the pointy toe ankle boot finished in patent leathers and metallic hues. The heel will range from low block heels to skyscraper stiletto heels.
Quirky heels featured heavily in the 2015 fashion shows giving designers the opportunity to display their immense sense of imagination. While some are totally impractical, there are other types of quirky heels, such as the flared block heel and the curved stiletto heel, that fashion critics believe will take off in 2015. The ornate heel is also something to look for with bejewelled heels being particularly prominent.
With all types of finishes and detailing having made an appearance, ballerina flats have been a constant favourite amongst shoe lovers. For 2015, the ballerina flat will take on a more grown-up look with the addition of an ankle strap. Again, finishes will vary from patent ballerina pumps to embellished versions and everything in between.
Hurtling shoe lovers straight back to the 90s, which it could be said is not a decade known for its fashion-forwardness, is the flatform. This clunky looking shoe will present themselves as lightweight flatform sandals and trainers for spring/summer 2015 and as flatform boots for autumn/winter 2015. While platforms may be declining in popularity, there is no denying that the flatworm, which gives height and comfort, is set to ignite 2015.
Detailing – woven, lacing
Many of the shoes that have made an appearance on the runways recently have shown detailing as a major trend for the upcoming seasons. One of the biggest examples of detailing that was seen is lacing and it featured heavily on gladiator sandals, high-heeled sandals and boots. Lacing will be seen as a feature around the ankle as well as up along the leg. Another example of detailing that is evident as a major trend for 2015 is woven footwear. Designers featured woven uppers on shoes and stilettos as well as on boots and pumps. Fringing is also set to make an impact on women’s shoes in 2015.
With a diverse and colourful selection of shoe trends on the horizon, 2015 is set to be an exciting year for shoe fashionistas and shoe lovers. We think that there will be plenty of special creations to covet and crave for the next 12 months!
